Heidi graduated in 2012 from Brandon Valley High School. As a multi-sport athlete, Heidi won eleven varsity letters in five sports while in high school. Her fall seasons were devoted to varsity soccer for two years and then to the volleyball team her final two years. On the volleyball court, she contributed in big ways both years and was named team captain her senior year, along with being an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection. The spring seasons had her playing Softball for two seasons and on the Track and Field Team for one year. Heidi had great success on the basketball court where she earned varsity letters all four years of high school. The Lynx were ESD Conference Champions in 2009 and 2012 and enjoyed a run of three State Tournament appearances during her career. The team finished Runner-Up in 2009, finished in Fourth Place in 2012 and won the school’s first state championship in 2011. Individual accolades were plentiful during her career. Heidi set eleven school records in points, rebounds, assists, and steals in individual games, seasons, or career. She was an All-Conference selection three times and was All-Tournament and All-State twice. Her career ended with numerous awards, including the Spirit of Su, South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association and Argus Leader Player of the Year, South Dakota Miss Basketball and South Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year. Heidi went on to play four years of basketball at the University of South Dakota, where the Coyotes won the National Invitational Tournament Championship. Her favorite Lynx memories include being a part of winning the first Lynx Girls basketball Championship, getting to play varsity basketball with her sister, Kelli, and all of the “off” the court bonding times – including dancing in the locker room before games, the bus rides, and team get-togethers |
